NEWS - Baby Mathew Somatheeram will produce the film ‘In Return, Just a Book’, under the banner Soma Creations.

KOCHI: The filming of ‘In Return, Just a Book’, a docu-fiction based on Perumbadavom Sreedharan’s celebrated book ‘Oru Sankeerthanam Poley’, will begin in St Petersburg in Russia in November.Writer Perumbadavom along with two Russian actors will enact the characters.The work, about the trauma and compulsions Russian writer Fyodor Dostoevsky had underwent while writing his novel ‘The Gambler’ and his love towards Anna, has found a unique place in the state’s publishing history, with over one and half lakh copies sold through 61 editions since 1993.“I am going to visit St Petersburg, where I went only through my mindscape. I had experienced all the climates -- the winter, spring and rain -- at the place,” an excited Perumbadavom said. The screenplay by noted writer Paul Zacharia focuses on Perumabadavom’s experience when he visits the places connected with life of  Dostoevsky, who has been an obsession to the writer for a long time. ‘In Return, Just a Book’ will be directed by Shiney Jacob Benjamin, who is known for her documentaries ‘Ottayal’ based on the life of social worker Daya Bayi and ‘Translated lives; a migration revisited’ on the Malayali nurses in Germany.Veteran cameraman K G Jayan will crank the camera while Baby Mathew Somatheeram will produce the film under Soma Creations.‘Oru Sankeerthanam Poley’ had sold more than 50,000 copies in the first six years and more than 1,00,000 copies in the first 12 years.The book was translated to many Indian and foreign languages including Hindi, Tamil, Kannada,Gujarati and Arabic.
